Grand Case, an idyllic Caribbean getaway
Grand Case is a small community tucked away on the north end of French St Martin.
Home to several thousand year-round residents, and famous for beaches, bathing, and a gourmet food culture, Grand Case is an ideal Caribbean hideaway.
Grand Case beach:
Grand Case stretches along a beautiful white sand beach with calm waters that are perfect for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking and paddle boarding. The silhouette of neighboring Caribbean island Anguilla can be seen in the distance, with Creole Rock just offshore.
Perfect for snorkeling, scuba diving, and exploring by sea kayak, Creole Rock is most easily accessible from Petit Plage at the northern end of the beach.
Creole Rock is part of a protected seashore. There has been a marked increase of sea-life returning to the rocky island over the past decade or so. It is not at all unusual to see turtles, rays, barracuda, tarpon and a wide variety of reef fish here. One side is very protected, while the other is open to deeper water.
Some care is needed: Creole Rock is home to some poisonous species of coral and access above the tideline is prohibited
Grand Case is a microcosm of cuisine from around the world, with restaurants featuring American, Caribbean, Italian, Oriental, seafood and of course, French dining. There are even Lolos, which are barbecue shacks where local ladies grill fresh lobsters, chicken, and spare ribs.
Grand Case Beach Club:
With two private beaches, Grand Case Beach Club, a St Martin hotel, is the most intimate resort in St Martin. The secluded location provides a private, serene oasis where the only noise is the sound of the breeze blowing through the coconut palms, and the lapping of the quiet Caribbean waves.
